Chers parents,

ANNEXE
Êtes-vous entièrement vacciné pour voyager aux États-Unis ?
Vous êtes considéré comme entièrement vacciné :
- 2 semaines (14 jours) après votre dose d’un vaccin à dose unique accepté;
- 2 semaines (14 jours) après l’administration de la deuxième dose d’une série acceptée de 2 doses de vaccin;
- 2 semaines (14 jours) après avoir reçu la série complète d’un vaccin COVID-19 accepté (pas de placebo) dans un essai clinique;

Dear Parents,
As you know, we are currently working very hard to prepare for the summer of 2022 after an involuntary two-year hiatus.
With the recent announcements from Quebec and the State of Maine related to a phased decontamination and the current data related to the COVID-19 pandemic being relatively encouraging, we are still cautious and planning different operating scenarios to make the upcoming summer a memorable one. In order to help us develop our health policy and make the best decisions for the well-being of all participants, we are currently drawing inspiration from the tools made available to us by the Association des camps du Québec (ACQ) and the American Camping Association (ACA), who are working with representatives of the Agence de la santé publique du Québec and the American Centers for Disease Control (CDC) respectively. As you can imagine, these tools favour the implementation of several « layers » of sanitary and prevention measures.
In this context, and following current border requirements*, Camp Tekakwitha has made the decision to require that all campers and staff be fully vaccinated**, 14 days prior to their arrival at camp.
We believe that the implementation of mandatory vaccination could allow for less restrictive health measures and thus allow for a better enjoyment of the upcoming summer. We are aware that some youth may not be able to be vaccinated for medical reasons. Please note that these exemptions will be examined on a case-by-case basis and must be documented by a health professional. It will therefore eventually be possible to enter information on the COVID-19 vaccination in the child’s camp medical record.
At this point, our management and health care teams are preparing different operating scenarios and other health measures are being considered for this summer and will be communicated to you as soon as possible. Please be assured that the emotional and physical well-being of our participants and staff remains a priority.
* As of March 22, 2022, all travelers (18 years and older), in essential and non-essential contexts, wishing to travel to the United States must present proof of vaccination at customs (see Appendix below).
** « Fully vaccinated » means that a person has received all recommended doses of the primary series of the COVID-19 vaccine (see Appendix below).
Thanks for your understanding and support.

APPENDIX
Are you fully vaccinated for travel to the United States?
You are considered fully vaccinated :
- 2 weeks (14 days) after your dose of an accepted single-dose vaccine;
- 2 weeks (14 days) after receiving the second dose of an accepted 2-dose series of vaccine;
- 2 weeks (14 days) after receiving the full course of an accepted COVID-19 vaccine (no placebo) in a clinical trial;
- 2 weeks (14 days) after receiving 2 doses of any mix-and-match combination of accepted COVID-19 vaccines**, given at least 17 days apart*.
If you do not meet these requirements, you are NOT considered fully vaccinated for travel to the United States. A booster dose is not required to meet this requirement.
A person who has received only one dose of an accepted 2-dose series and has recovered from COVID-19 does NOT meet this definition and is therefore NOT considered fully vaccinated for travel to the United States.
*The CDC has not recommended the use of primary mixed COVID-19 vaccine series. However, such strategies are increasingly common in many countries outside the United States (including Canada). Therefore, for purposes of interpreting vaccination records for travel to the United States, CDC will accept accepted COVID-19 vaccine combinations**.
